Wiki Classes Cleric

Cleric

An ordained priest of one of the five faiths who heals and fights in equal measure, and who runs the ceremonies that hold a church together.

The Cleric is the only class where the roleplay is the mechanics. You are ordained to one of the five gods, and that ordination gives you a working priesthood: you marry people, hear confessions, preach sermons, induct new members, keep vigil and bury the dead, and the game gives every one of those acts a real command rather than leaving them to emote. A cleric who never leaves the temple still has a full working priesthood to run.

In a fight the cleric sits between the healer and the paladin. You have a working healing kit, from a cheap instant bind at level 1 through orison at 12 and healingbreeze at 16 to healparty at 47 and resurrect at 52, but you also have a genuine offensive tree in Zeal. The class is deliberately not the fastest healer nor the hardest hitter; what it has instead is the Deity tree, which gives each of the five gods its own run of abilities that no other cleric can cast.

Resources#

The cleric spends SP on everything. There is no second combat resource to build and no charge bar.

A separate Faith resource is defined in the code but is not yet in play: nothing currently grants it, spends it or displays it, and the client class panel carries your supply bars only. Treat the ministry rites as roleplay, reputation and standing rather than as a resource loop. Read where you stand before your god with piety, which reports your deity, your rank, your devotion and your tithes.

Alongside that, talents give you one point every ten levels up to ten, spent with talents spend <tree>. Cleric passives work differently from every other class: you never equip them. The gifts your god grants are always on once you reach the level for them, listed under the Deity tree below.

Talent Trees#

Benediction#

Healing, cleansing and the return of the dead, plus the everyday conjurations of light, water and food. It runs from bind at level 1 through orison and healingbreeze up to healparty at 47 and resurrect at 52. Almost everything here targets an ally, and it also holds three of the class's always-on passives.

Zeal#

Holy offence, and the smallest tree in the class at nine skills. It opens with smite at 4 and stone at 7, adds the control spells silence, fatigue and freeze through the thirties, and finishes with the heavy area damage of flamestrike and earthquake. Zeal is what makes the cleric a real combatant rather than a healing turret.

Devotion#

Blessings, wards and protection, all of it front-loaded into the teens and twenties. It holds chant, the toggled battle-chant that sharpens your party's accuracy while it runs, the absorb shield divineshield, the damage reduction of sanctuary and barkskin, the reflect of thorns, and at level 60 bloodofthemartyr, which trades half your own health to fully restore a dying ally.

Ministry#

Rites, ceremony and the social fabric of the church. Almost nothing here is a combat ability. It is marriage and divorce, induction and excommunication, sermons, sanctified ground, speaking with the dead, sensing the faithful and the heretical, and a familiar sent by your god. Ministry is how a cleric becomes a fixture in other players' stories.

Deity#

The largest tree in the class at 33 skills, and the one that makes two clerics of different gods play differently. Each god grants its own run of abilities from level 17 upward, locked to that religion; changing faith changes which run you can use. The entries at levels 58 and 81 are always-on passives rather than castable abilities.

Loralei grants Loralei's Warmth at 17, Gentle Hands at 27, Word of Healing at 30, Fortune at 33, Penitent Light at 45, and the passives Bounteous Hunt at 58 and Blessing of Trade at 81.

Sivaine grants Taint at 27, Dark Curse at 43, Infect at 45, Plague at 54, and the passives Agony at 58 and Feast of Pain at 81.

Kranos grants the passive Ready for War at 27, which lets a cleric of Kranos wear plate armour, alongside Warhorn at 27, Challenge at 43, Brandmark at 45, Standard of War at 54, and the passive Anvil of Kranos at 58.

Thalos grants Watersbreath at 17, Entangle at 27, Beast at 36, Undertow at 45, Tame at 51, Stormcall at 55, and the passive Greenwarden at 81.

Morbis grants Raise Dead at 17, Commune at 27, Summon Corpse at 33, Underworld at 43, Gravechill at 45, and the passives Deathwarden at 58 and Death's Tithe at 81.

Passives#

A cleric never equips passives. Every passive your god grants is always on the moment you reach its level, so there is no loadout to manage and nothing to swap between fights. They are listed with the rest of the Deity tree above, alongside the three unaligned passives in Benediction.

Playing a Cleric#

Your first few levels are bind and a weapon. Bind is cheap, instant and on a 6 second cooldown, so at low level it is both your heal and your entire out-of-combat recovery plan. smite arrives at 4 and stone at 7, which between them give you something to do in a fight when nobody needs healing.

From the teens onward the loop settles: keep the party topped up with the cheapest heal that will do the job, and use Zeal to contribute damage in between. Most cleric heals are instant, which makes the class more forgiving than it looks; the exception is healparty, which takes four seconds to gather the party into one prayer, so start it before the tank actually needs it rather than after.

Prioritise Benediction early, because a cleric who cannot keep a group alive will not be invited to groups. Devotion is the tree to take when you start doing organised group content, since chant is always-on party value and divineshield, sanctuary and barkskin all scale well. Ministry can be picked up at any pace; it costs you nothing in combat power and it is where the class's identity lives.

Your deity matters more than any other single choice you make. It decides an entire third of your kit, including every always-on passive you will ever have, and the five gods pull in genuinely different directions: Loralei toward healing and fortune, Kranos toward frontline war, Thalos toward the wilds and the water, Sivaine toward disease and curses, Morbis toward the dead. Pick the one whose abilities you actually want to press, because changing faith changes which of them you can use at all.

In a group you are the flexible one. You will not out-heal a dedicated healer, so ask what the party is short of. If they have a healer, run Zeal, keep chant up and treat yourself as a damage dealer with emergency cover. If they do not, you are the healer, and the fact that you can resurrect from level 52 means the group can afford to fail once.
